Yes, that was a lame reference to a Britney Spears song, and for that we apologize! However, the point of this blog post is serious indeed, and without this information readily available at your fingertips, it could quickly equal the destruction of any chance you had for online success. So, what did Google do again, you ask?
YET AGAIN, Google has updated their algorithm, throwing a majority of the SEO world into a frenzied panic.
Below are the two most recent and accounted for algorithm changes, and what you need to know about each to ensure you give yourself as great of a chance for Search Engine Optimization success as possible.
1. Panda Update 3.2 was rolled out in January of 2012. Since then, Panda 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6 and 3.7 Updates (as recent as June 8, 2012) have also been released. This means within 6 months, Google has updated their Panda algorithm change 7 times!! That’s more than 1 change per month.
What Panda means to you and your SEO:
If your website does not contain enough quality content (valuable for users with keywords inserted strategically), or contains little to no actual content, your website will not rank very highly.
Then, if that’s not enough to keep the SEO world on its toes, Google decided to launch a brand new update in April 2012. This was not a panda, but equally as ‘cute.’
2. Penguin Update was released on April 24, 2012. We have yet to see any Penguin updates since then, but it’s only been two months, so let’s give the Google gods some time to out-think themselves yet again.
What Penguin means to you and your SEO:
If your website (onsite) does any SEO techniques that are considered black hat (unethical), Google has its radar focused on finding you! And once they find you, au revoir, you can say goodbye to your rankings, until you right your ship and Google learns to trust you again (which could be never).
In closing. It’s not everyday that Google and the other Search Engines update their algorithm. However, with the fluctuation of competition for first page results, and willingness of some companies to break the rules in order to achieve ‘supremacy,’ it does seem as if these updates are now monthly. Just a few years ago the updates were yearly, if that.
So, ask us about our 100% success rate with the algorithm updates. Our company philosophy has always been ethical, long-term success SEO, so our clients rest easy during all these otherwise turmoil-filled times of constant algorithm updates. We’ve never had a client negatively impacted by these updates and our system ensures this will always be the case. Does your business have the time, energy and proprietary information to ensure the same type of SEO success? If not, we can help.
Cheers! See you at the top of the Search Engines soon.
